Universal Changing Mat For Your Changing Table

Choosing the right changing mat is important to ensure maximum comfort for your baby when changing diapers or clothes. There are many factors that you need to take into consideration.

Universal changing mat dimensions

If you have a changing table, the choice will be easier since they usually have standard dimensions and you can opt for a universal changing mat. If, on the other hand, you have a chest of drawers or something else that you want to use as such, you must pay close attention to the size of the mattress as it must fit perfectly.

Side rails

Another factor that you must take into consideration when choosing the mattress is the side padding. The mattress can have 2, 3 or 4 sides. The two-sided mattress has only 2 raised edges on the sides and is preferable when your child is older. The models with 3 and 4 sides, on the other hand, have more raised edges which guarantee maximum safety both laterally and at head or foot height. This type is more suitable as a mattress for babies.

Concave mattresses are also very common, i.e. mattresses without side rails and with a curved shape (flatter in the center and raised on the long sides), where your child will be welcomed into the hollow during the change without running any risks.

Mattress padding materials

Since this accessory is in contact with the baby's skin every day, even several times a day, it is very important that it is made in compliance with current safety standards and is free of toxic substances dangerous for the baby.

The padding is usually in soft sponge, foam rubber or silicone fiber.

Most of the mattresses have a cover in soft, waterproof plastic fabric that guarantees maximum hygiene because it is easily washable with a simple sponge. As an alternative to the PVC coating, others prefer removable pillowcases, made of cotton or other natural and fresh fabric. The changing mat cover is not waterproof so remember to have a good supply.

To make the changeover even more pleasant, there are various cheerful and captivating decorations for your children. The colors used to create these patterns are obviously non-toxic, free from phthalates and other harmful substances.
