What types of baby food creams are there?

On the market there are different types of baby food creams to choose from based on the age of the child and also on his personal taste.

In particular, there are:
1. Cream of rice for children. This cream is made using rice flour, it is particularly delicate and creamy and therefore easily digestible by the child who has not yet developed optimal digestive capacity;
2. Corn flour and tapioca. The cream made from selected corn and tapioca flours does not contain gluten and has a very sweet taste that the child should like because it resembles the consistency of milk. The density of the product is also particularly creamy, it does not make lumps during cooking and represents the ideal solution because it remains soft even when the meal gets cold.
3. Children's semolina. Semolina-based baby food comes from grinding wheat and has a delicate flavour.
4. Multigrain creams. The flours used for these baby food are wheat, rice, corn, barley, oats and spelt.

Advice for mothers
Before choosing a baby food cream rather than another, it is advisable to ask the pediatrician for advice who will be able to give all the information on the matter.
To start weaning with baby food creams, however, it is necessary to start with gluten-free products because, in addition to being more digestible, they have less risky components as regards any intolerances or allergies whose existence is not yet known.
From the fourth month of the baby's life, the following baby food can therefore be prepared: baby rice cream and baby corn flour and tapioca baby food.
The two meals should be alternated as the cream of rice has an astringent power for the baby's intestines so he shouldn't eat it too often.
Once weaning has started and the child has started to eat the gluten-free baby food described above well, it will be possible to choose different baby food that has gluten inside, such as semolina for children and multigrain creams.
In both cases, however, it is best to wait until the baby is at least six months old.
If the child is lazy and doesn't have much of an appetite, the advice is to administer baby food through the bottle, trying not to make the drink too thick.

It is known that oil is the now recognized backbone of the Mediterranean diet, as well as a very important food for following a correct diet both as adults and as children.

Oil: essential food for the growth of children
In particular, oil is a fundamental component in the meals of the little ones, who from the age of 5-6 months begin to need to assimilate new nutrients in addition to mother's milk.
Therefore, starting from weaning, it is important that a teaspoon of oil is always added raw to baby food, which makes the dish tastier and healthier.

Why is oil so good for you?
Since fats represent about 40-50% of the total energy intake in infants (only 20-25% in adults), it is essential to choose the best oil, the one that can guarantee the greatest benefits for healthy growth.
In general, however, it is a food rich in omega 3, unsaturated and essential fats, which manages to convey fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) into the body.
During the first years of life it also promotes the correct development of nerve and bone tissue.
It is highly digestible, reduces gastric acidity, protects the mucous membranes of the stomach and regulates intestinal activity.
Finally, it has important antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer functions.

How to choose baby oil
Assuming that oil absolutely cannot be missing in the preparation of a meal for your little ones, the most frequent question that mothers ask themselves is: is there a difference between the various types of oil? Which should I choose?

The answer to the first question is definitely yes! There are many differences that shouldn't be underestimated and that undoubtedly place olive oil in first place with a considerable gap compared to the others. As for the second question, below we will see which product to prefer.

Also according to the opinion of expert nutritionists and paediatricians, the best oil for your babies is undoubtedly the extra virgin one.
In fact, it is the only one that is always and exclusively obtained with mechanical and never chemical processes, it is the purest and healthiest, therefore also slightly more expensive (be wary of those who want to see you a good bottle for only €2-3! ).

DOP oils are certainly the most reliable and safe, a real guarantee as they must necessarily comply with certain parameters in order to have this label.

Also highly recommended for children are the organic extra virgin olive oils, which contain an even higher concentration of phospholipids, tocopherols and polyphenols, which give this food fundamental antibacterial and antiviral properties.
