Carousels, projectors and baby carillon

Carousels, projectors and music boxes

Carousels are very useful in the first months of a child's life. In addition to accompanying the newborn in the early stages of sleep, they also help to develop sensory activities.

Various types of Mobiles

There are three types of carousels: the cradle carousel, the cot carousel and the pram carousel. The carousels are formed by a revolving base which makes some hanging characters move downwards, or towards the child, who is not yet able to voluntarily grasp objects. This way you don't risk throwing the whole structure of the carousel on yourself. Therefore it is important that objects hanging from the base are at least 25-30 centimeters away from the child. For this reason there are three types of carousels: the carousel for the cradle has different dimensions compared to the cot carousel and the one for the pram, because the depth at which the child is found is different.

An important investment

The usefulness of carousels has also been recognized in the pedagogical field. The Montessori Method itself identifies it as an important element for the development of the newborn's cognitive activities. The mobiles, in fact, encourage the concentration of the child from 0 to 6 months, who is not yet able to interact, but lets himself be lulled by the movement of objects following one in particular. In this way he begins to understand kinetic information and begins to distinguish colors and perceive a sense of depth. According to the Montessori Method, carousels should be changed every two or three weeks, in order to follow the progress made by the child.
The carousels can be purchased at any childcare store or on portals that deal with this type of item. They are of different brands and inside the package there are instructions on how to assemble them for the cot, cradle or pram. They usually have a hook that must be well fixed to the cot bars or adapters for the pram or cradle. The music box base is then hung on the hook to hang various types of characters. Usually they are animals (bees, lion cubs, teddy bears, kittens, butterflies and bunnies) but there are also stars and hearts. They are generally colored but can also be found in one color or in any case tending towards white or light brown. The music of the carillon varies according to the base chosen. The objects to hang can be changed without necessarily buying the base as well.
The child, lying in the crib or in the cot or in the pram, will be cheered by the sweet music of the carillon and will follow the movement of the characters with interest without the risk of grabbing them and pulling the whole structure on himself. For this reason it is advisable to remove the cot mobile after 6 months, when the child begins to have more developed grasping skills.
