Turn the lights off

Are the days getting longer? Does the sun, setting behind the sea, fill your eyes with warm nuances? Then we wait to turn on the light. Indeed, in summer it is easy to keep it off for longer. First of all, you can take a few walks outdoors even after dinner, and then, once the children are asleep, how about a nice candlelit chat? When the heat becomes insistent, energy consumption rises due to fans and air conditioners: saving on electricity by moderating the use of lighting could be an idea.

Green games

A good idea is to take advantage of the warm season to introduce children to nature better. Even on the balcony, using bark, pebbles and flowers, real 'villages' can be created, ideal for being lived in and animated by dolls and elves. With the help of an adult, a bird feeder can also be built, in order to admire the birds at close range as they eat the grains and pieces of fruit prepared every day by the children. A 'bat box' is also easily made, although bats usually start a family in the spring.

Green on the beach

The issue of sea pollution is more topical than ever. In our small way, we can work to support a cleaner sea by maintaining appropriate behavior on the beach. For adults and children, for example, yes to the purchase of protective creams without highly toxic chemical sunscreens. To reduce the use of plastic, replace the bottle with a convenient water bottle. And finally, teach our children that sand is not a souvenir: bringing home a jar of sand means, over time, compromising an already fragile ecosystem.

Let's save water

In summer it is natural to indulge in endless showers. It being understood that cooling off is of primary importance, children can be taught to save on water consumption, starting with simple gestures: turning off the tap when brushing your teeth; press the 'save' button of the differentiated flush of the toilet after peeing; help the mother to water the plants in the evening, when the water evaporates more slowly as the heat decreases; wash fruit and vegetables in containers, instead of leaving them under running water. It can even be more fun to see the cherries float. Taken from Born Mom | by Lucia Modici
