A GREEN SOFTENER

Instead of the traditional softener, try a 15% citric acid solution: 150 grams of citric acid dissolved in a liter of warm water, preferably distilled. Citric acid is a substance of natural origin also present in fruit, wood , mushrooms and wine; completely harmless, it also works – and excellently – as an anti-limescale, descaler and rinse aid. For a scented green laundry , add a few drops of sandalwood or lavender essential oil to the solution.

HOW COLD

Low temperatures cause dry and inflamed skin , which soon becomes red and chapped. Hands and face, more exposed, are the parts of the body normally more affected, in both adults and children, including infants. For them, warm baths (not hot, so as not to increase inflammation) and oatmeal are recommended. Alternatively, the indispensable almond oil, with its remarkable moisturizing properties. Remember that aloe vera gel, extracted directly from the plant, is also an effective home remedy; probably, however, for newborns, mothers will prefer already prepared, more controlled aloe gels

SEASONAL DISEASES

Colds are common in winter. To try to free the nose from runny mucus, washing with saline water is now a well-known remedy. In case of stuffy nose,

Nonna Matilde recommends a few hot showers (within limits), the constant use of a cold humidifier and the administration of a good hot broth.

Against a sore throat, on the other hand, an ice lolly can bring relief, but given the period it is better to opt for gargling with salt water . It won't be easy with children, but the results are guaranteed.

PAPS ON CLOTHES

When you start weaning, food stains on bodysuits, onesies and bibs will be routine. How to get rid of dirt without forming the typical yellow halos? First step it is essential not to let the stains dry : it is better to wet immediately with dish soap and leave the garment to soak for about an hour. Afterwards we recommend a passage in the washing machine at no more than 30 degrees. For more resistant stains, you can try scrubbing with Marseille soap , which has always been a great help for all housewives.
