What is the bonus for unemployed mothers
The unemployed mothers bonus is a measure provided by the State to help unemployed or unemployed mothers in situations of economic difficulty. It consists of a monthly allowance for a period of 5 months, with a maximum amount of 354.73 euros per month for 2023.
The requirements to obtain the mothers bonus
In order to apply for maternity benefit from your municipality, you must meet a number of basic requirements:
- Being unemployed or underemployed at the time of applying; otherwise, in fact, an employed mother can request maternity leave.
- At the same time, one cannot be the beneficiary of other income support benefits, such as the NASpI or other types of bonus.
- It is not possible to request the allowance when, in the course of the previous 18 months, more than three months of contributions have been paid.

The ISEE income (i.e. the absolute value of the sum of income and 20% of the movable and immovable assets of family members), which is calculated on the previous year at the time of the request, must not have a value higher than 17,747.58 euros per year. Applicant new mothers must possess Italian citizenship or, in the case of non-EU citizenship, a residence permit.

The family must confirm the birth of a new child or the arrival of a minor in the household through foster care or adoption. The adopted minor must not have passed the age of 6 at the time of adoption/custody and 18 years in the case of international adoption/custody.
How to apply for the mothers bonus
To proceed with the application, it is essential to have all the necessary documentation in time, namely: Identity card and tax code of the applicant and, if necessary, also the residence permit; ISEE 2023 certification; Self-certification of the applicant confirming that he possesses all the necessary requirements IBAN of the current account into which INPS will pay the amount of the subsidy.Also remember that it is possible to apply only within 6 months of the date of birth or of the arrival of the adopted minor.
